Derrick Bohn at Knives Ship Free contacted Mike Stewart and asked that he make a Non-handle slab Neck Knife. They certainly have their place in Ultra Thin Compactness or as a Hide-Out Knife in situations that might require it. This knife had to be more than that. The only way to accomplish what Derrick asked for and satisfy Mike Stewart on the Usefulness side was to design the knife with Optional – Removable – and ultimately Interchangeable Handle Scales. The handles had to lock into the knife and be easy to Mount – Remove and Interchange.
In addition to the Design – Bark River is all about Choices. We wanted the choices to be more than just the choice of handles. We came up with the Electro-Static Powder Coating as a way of adding choices. Coatings slow down the Cutting Power of a blade by up to 50% of it’s potential. The Solution was to not compromise the cutting Power of the necker by grinding the blade as normal and removing the Powder Coating on the blade portion as we convex the blade.
The Bravo Necker comes in five individual colors: Black, Ranger Green, Desert Tan, Blood Red, and International Orange.
The Interchangeable Handle sets are offered in a number of Micarta and G-10 laminates. A handle set consists of the 2 handle slabs – 2 screws – 2 threaded ferrels and an Allen Key.
